Offshore Wind
Offshore drilling was a controversial topic during the 2008 Presidential Election and raised questions about whether we should take risky action in order to lower the costs of oil; however, I bet you haven't heard about the harvesting of offshore wind. Check out this New York Times article about a new energy alternative emerging on the Danish coast.

Oh man that is really cool! I know that wind turbines can occupy a lot of physical space, which many argue can make them inefficient. I think that finding room for them on the water is a great idea because that space isn't being utilized anyway. And, of course, coastlines are always windy which will feed these turbines and increase their production.
